Across from some kind of Starbucks-like thing
Port of Spain by early morning, if they begin boarding the plane soon. One of my last flights-via Kuwait Air-offered such a minimal selection, but what they had was fantastic. The Big Year, an undeniable peak in Jack Black's career, was among the offerings and I would be lying if I said it hasn't stuck with me all these months. Three birdwatchers vie for the title of having seen the most birds in the United States over one calendar year. Imagine the relief I felt knowing I was not alone in my geographical drifter ambitions. While I have no desire to plant myself deep in a forest tracking owls, I feel a Big Year is somewhere ahead. Imagine it: a year abroad, setting foot in South America, Asia, Africa, Europe. Maybe more. One could cover a lot of ground in a year if he were disciplined. Perhaps a big year is where I am headed. Too many countries, too little time otherwise. I will log my ambitions further here should I realize them.
Victor Bernabei is just another millenial travel blogger. But here's the twist: He isn't a millenial! His goal is to see as many countries as he can, and spread the message that the world is not as scary as the news wants you to believe, and that there is beauty in all people, places and things.
